How beautiful are the prayers of children. We pray each day as a class. I have one student who’s prayers have really challenged me think about a how I pray. This is how she prays:
Dear God,
Thank you for bringing my dad home safe. Thank you for making Miss Christy’s mouth better. Thank you for keeping Azael’s daddy safe…
This may seem like normal prayer to you. The thing is she was thanking God for things He is going to do. Her dad was still on a trip. My mouth was still very sore from having my wisdom teeth taken out. Her friends dad was also still on a trip. Her prayer were not requests made with a small bit hope that God would come through, but declarations of what God was going to do.
I have been trying to pray like that, pray based on the promises God has made me. I have decided to thank God for keeping His promises even though I have not seen the promise fulfilled because I believe God always keeps His promises.
For example I had some money stolen the other day. Rather than praying “God please provide for all my needs.” I prayed: God thank you for providing for all my needs” I know He will it is a promise.
I hope you are also encouraged by the prayer of this little child. Let us thank God for keeping His promise, even before the promise has been fulfilled.
